The building
The shop, in an 1891 miners' hotel
The Tremont Hotel was built on Baker Street in 1891, a working man's hotel for miners and prospectors. The west wing is still standing, and it is where Cartolina is today.
120 years of renovation had hidden its original character. Careful work brought back the pressed tin ceiling, the original fir floors, the brick walls, the old doors, and the shop fixtures. Come have a look for yourself.
